Career guidance centres islandwide

The National Youth Services Council will launch a programme to establish 17 Skills Development Carrier Guidance and Youth Counselling Centres covering all districts including the North and East, to coincide with the National Youth Day which falls on May 23.

The NYSC Chairman Director General Lalith Pium Perera coordinates the project under the Youth Affairs and Skill's Development Minister Dullas Alahapperuma's guidance.

Training for jobs, providing data for available professions both local and international, maintaining a register of job seekers at district levels and providing information for higher education locally and internationally are objectives of the Carrier guidance Division.

Out of the 17 centres 14 have been already opened. The other three centres will be opened in Kilinochchi, Badulla and Batticaloa before May 23.
