Army to mark Sambuddhatva Jayanthi

Religious ceremonies will be held in all army camps including those of the Northern and Eastern Provinces to mark the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanthi celebrations.

The main ceremony will be held under the patronage of Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasooriya at the Bodhirajarama Viharaya in Panagoda on May 13. At this function 3,600 army soldiers and officers will observe Atasil and five heads of cattle will be freed.

One thousand soldiers will observe atasil at the religious function to be held at Jaffna headquarters. Colourful lanterns, Bhakthi Gee and various other religious funtions will take place at all army camps including those at Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Pooneryn, Mannar, Batticaloa and Ampara.
