We need to move on - Gambhir
Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambir on Thursday refused to
blame any of his players for the team's 17-run loss to Kochi Tuskers
Kerala on Thrusday.
Asked if Brett Lee's last over cost the game for KKR, Gambir said, "I
do not want to blame anyone. It happens in the game of cricket. He gave
his best shot and we know these things happen. He has bowled well in the
last couple of games."
"We did not go wrong anywhere. I do not want to blame anyone. But we
should have chased 156. Kochi bowled well and credit goes to Kochi as
they stick to the areas," Gambhir said at the post-match press
conference.
"We need to move on from here. This is part and parcel of the game.
In the T20 format, one wicket can change the game. We need to
concentrate on next couple of games," he said.
Asked if the Kochi pitch was difficult to bat on, he said, "It was a
very good wicket to play and credit goes to Kochi because they stick to
their areas and bowlers bowled really well.
On the fielding of his side, Gambhir said KKR had consistently
fielded well in the tournament.
"I am happy with the fielding efforts of my team mates and everyone
is giving their 100 per cent. That is what matters," he said. KTK
batsman Brad Hodge, who was declared man of the match, said it was nice
to perform well against his former team.
"It was a highly contested match. KKR played pretty well. We had to
win and obviously it was a good victory. The pitch was good for the
bowlers and batsmen," said Hodge.
Asked what changed the game, his batting or Raiphi Gomez's two
crucial wickets, Hodge said, "It was a combination of both. Two good
wickets in an over gave us momentum and put the brakes a little bit on
KKR and gave rest of our bowlers confidence. The two Kerala bowlers
bowled really well."
Asked about KTK's matches coming up at Indore, the Australian said,
"It doesn't matter where we play, it is the performance that matters."
