The 13th DSI Super Sport Volleyball Championship:

Organizers expect over 5000entries this year

The 13th edition of the most popular DSI Super Sport Volleyball Championship for schools considered as an important event in the local sporting calendar will come up again for competition soon, according to the organizers Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and the Schools Volleyball Association. The Championship is sponsored for the 13th successive year by DSI Group of Companies.

The Championship is one of the tournaments specially looked forward by the up and coming spikers from schools all round the country. The competition which commenced thirteen years back, less than 200 schools participation has taken great strides and last year it was a staggering 5000 teams from all parts competed in this mega event.

The organizers and the sponsors have taken great pains in taking this up to this stage and this year too they hope that the number of teams could rise further and it will serve the Federation to find new talents for the future of the sport.

This year's championship too will be conducted as in the previous years under following categories:

Divisional level - Under 12 Boys/Girls, Under 14 Boys /Girls, Under 16 Boys/Girls and Under 18 Boys/Girls.

Once the Divisional level concludes the District level, Provincial level and the All-Island level - Under 14 Boys/Girls, Under 16 Boys/Girls and Under 18 Boys/Girls will commence. District level matches are scheduled to be worked out on 10th, 11th, 17th and 18th June 2011 whilst the Provincial level matches are to be conducted on 24th and 25th June 2011, the All island level matches on 8th, 9th and 10th July 2011 and followed by the finals to be held at the Sugathadasa Stadium on 22nd and 23rd July 2011.

The under 12 mini-volleyball matches will be held on 25th and 26th June 2011, on a provincial level, 8th, 9th and 10th July 2011, for the all island matches and the finals also at the Sugathadasa Stadium on 22nd and 23rd July 2011.

Entries can be obtained from over 200 DSI Showrooms islandwide. Applications have already be dispatched to all government schools by post. Perfected applications must be handed over to the selected DSI showrooms on or before 3.0 pm on 13th May 2011 or posted to The Marketing Services Manager, D.
