Lecturers cannot leave positions abruptly - UGC chief

University lecturers holding portfolios cannot leave their positions according to their wish, said University Grants Commission (UGC) chairman Professor Gamini Samaranayake.

Addressing a press briefing at the UGC board room yesterday, he said that any person who wishes to leave his/her position should inform the UGC three months ahead and should carry out their duties properly till they get permission.
