The Chiththa Vivekashramaya at Wickramasinghapura, Battaramulla has
launched 21 development projects, including the renovation of the former
residence of Most Ven. Aggamahapanditha Balangoda Ananda Maithri
Mahanayake Thera.
Some of the planned projects have already been implemented to mark
the 2600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi on the direction of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa, said Ven. Pitakende Ananda Wimalakeerthi Thera.
"Under these 21 Projects, construction work of the Vihara Mandiras
which are attached to the Atavisi Bodhi are almost complete. Work on the
main Buddha Medura is also being completed," the Thera said.
"This is the only zone of greenery in Colombo.
Therefore the President has requested that this land be developed to
protect nature of the environment," the Thera said.
This land was legally given to the Mahasanga by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa in 2006, the Thera said.
Under the 21 development projects plan a building comprising a
nursery school, day care centre, library and commemoration museum of Ven
Ananda Mithtree Maha Nayake Thera will be constructed.
The bird paradise close to the temple site will be protected and a
reservoir built near it. |
