Rubber export increases

Total natural rubber export volumes saw a marked increase in February 2011 and reached 4,883,039 Kg as against 4,821,377 Kg recorded in January 2011.Rubber production in February, 2011 was 15,203,690 Kg as against 14,728,776 Kg in January 2011, a Rubber Development Department official said.

According to the Colombo Rubber Auction held on May 4, 2011, the average price of a kilogram of Latex crepe 1X, Latex crepe 1, Latex Crepe 2, Latex Crepe 3, Latex Crepe 4 are Rs 610, Rs 602, Rs 590, Rs 545, Rs 535 respectively. The average price of one kilogram of SC.CR. 1X(BR), SC.CR. 2X(BR), SC.CR. 3X(BR), SC.CR 4X(BR) and skim crepe registered Rs 525, Rs 481, Rs 466, Rs 465 and Rs 440 respectively. Ribbed smoked sheet 4 was Rs 532.
