Pakistan women emerge champions

Sri Lanka had to be satisfied with just one win and eventually lost the series to a Pakistan side who were fortunate to win their two games against minnows Netherlands and Ireland despite torrential rain. Sri Lanka who were firm favourites to win the series had to just curse and wait and watch the Pakistanis carry the cup with five points due to an abandoned game against Ireland which they were definitely going to win.

According to the points table if Sri Lanka had beaten Ireland they would have had on a much higher run rate than Pakistan and would have been eventual winners. A lack of final in this ridiculous and bizarre tournament has hurt the Lankans very badly. finishing second with three points.
