Bowlers call the tune at Panadura

Moratu Vidyalaya were 60 for 6 in reply to Sri Sumangala College, Panadura total of 108 runs in their 59th annual Big Match played at Panadura esplanade.

Vidyalian skipper Avishka Peiris called the coin correctly and invited Sumangalians to take the first lease and his gamble worked off and Sumangalians were soon in trouble and skittled out for a paltry 108 runs.

Only two of their batsmen entered double figures. Sameera Harshan 47 and Madhava Satranga 24 put on 43 runs for the fifth wicket which was the highlight of the Sumangalians’ innings. Kalhara Peiris, Chanaka Roshan and Janidu Devinda bagged two wickets each. In reply Vidyalians could not take the mean advantage and at the end of day one they were also struggling at 60 for 6. Sumangalian skipper Vimukthi Kaushan captured 3 for 30.
