Intellectuals to support Panadura development

A committee of intellectuals in Panadura assured their assistance to the Panadura Urban Council's Chairman Nandana Gunatilleke in introducing a development programme for the Panadura urban council area.

The decision was taken at a meeting presided by the Panadura Urban Councils new Chairman on Sunday at the Panadura Urban Council office.

They discussed the present problems faced by the public and solutions to overcome them.

They said that the Panadura area gets flooded during rains and roads become impassable as drains and roads are not properly maintained.

The Panadura CTB Central bustand is in dilapidated condition and drains carrying rain water to Talpitiya Canal had been blocked.

Illicit slaughter and transportation of cattle in Panadura was also discussed.
