Flood threat in Ratnapura

Eight Divisional Secretariat Divisions in Ratnapura district are facing a flood threat due to heavy rains experienced in the region during this last few days, said Col. S.M.P. Abeyratne of the Ratnapura Disaster Management Centre.

A 57-year-old person named Wijeratne died on April 28 night when a mound of earth damaged a house during an earthslip in Mihindugama.

Meanwhile, M.K. Vijayakumara was swept away by flood waters when he attempt to cross the Galdola tributory in Elapatha which was in spate.
