Govt to develop Dhamma schools

The government will develop 2,600 underdeveloped Dhamma schools in
view of the 2600th Sambuddhatva Jayanthi, Media Minister and Cabinet
Spokesman Keheliya Rambukwella said.
He was addressing the weekly Cabinet press briefing at the Government
Information Department Auditorium on Thursday. Minister Rambukwella said
that the Cabinet on the recommendation of Prime Minister D M Jayaratne
as Buddhasasana and Religious Affairs Minister has decided to develop
2,600 underdeveloped Dhamma schools throughout the country, in keeping
with the Sambuddhathva Jayanthi celebration in 2011. Rs 150,000 is to be
spent on each Dhamma school. |
