Alms giving on May 7

An alms giving will be held with the participation of President Mahinda Rajapaksa on May 7 at the Kelaniya, Bollegala Manelwattha Maha Viharaya premises to mark the 2,600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi.

Taiwan Chief incumbent Most Ven Bodhagama Chandima Thera said this will be one of the main activities to mark the 2,600th Sambuddhathva Jayanthi.

Several other religious activities will also he held alongside the alms giving. The Sambuddhthwa Jayanthi Seminar Hall built at thepremises of the Replica Building of the Great Five Sacred Sites in India, the two storied auditorium hall attached to the InternationalUniversity, three storied hostel which can provide accommodation to100 individuals, the education building complex of the Buddhist Universityand Seemamalakaya close to the reservoir will also to be opened.

The shooting of the film to commemorate the 2,600th SambuddathvaJayanthi ceremony will also commence on this day.
