Corporate earnings to increase

The CSE has been able to capture more attention and interest in foreign investments compared to the regional markets. There will be a 40 percent growth in the earnings of listed companies in the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) whereas the listed companies in the regional countries will record a growth of around 18 to 22 percent for this year.

Increase in import taxes:

Marginal impact on Toyota

The recent increase in vehicle import taxes will have a marginal impact on the overall operations of Toyota Lanka. Toyota Lanka Managing Director Yoshiaki Kato said there will be a marginal impact on the enhancement of the import duty of motor vehicles mainly due to the taxes increased to a limited segment.

Record increase in worker remittances

US $ 377 million sent in January:

Sri Lanka’s foreign remittances from expatriate Sri Lankans have recorded an increase of 20 percent in January compared to last year. This is despite the volatile situations around the world, which affected the foreign exchange earnings of many countries.
