Leasing industry experiences growth

The leasing industry has seen a remarkable improvement continuously and the industry is experiencing the growth.

Speaking to Daily News Business Leasing Association of Sri Lanka (LASL) Chairman Sanjeewa Bandaranayake said the favourable economic environment has benefitted the industry commendably. There is a reduction of defaultees in the leasing industry as people are much aware and has understood the leasing concept compared to other finance products in the market. This is another significant factor that the industry keeps on improving, he said.

With the impetus of growth in the leasing industry, it is important to enhance the knowledge of the people that are engaged in the industry.

Hence, the association is planning to organize a series of seminars to provide training programmes and the first seminar will commence in the next month, he said.

"There is a good number of newcomers to the industry having a good knowledge of the technical aspects of the products. Therefore, this training programme will help the newcomers to enhance their technical knowledge," Bandaranayake said.

The association is also expecting to launch a website, which they could use as a communication tool. The website will be launched within this year, he said.
