SLIIT to produce more IT professionals

The Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) is expected to increase the number of IT graduates passing out from the institute to facilitate industry requirements.

The SLIIT at Malabe continues to increase the number of student enrollment.

The largest number of graduates was passed out at the last convocation with a total of 815 students. The Institute expects to reach 1,000 graduates within the next couple of years Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology CEO Professor Lalith B. Gamage told Daily News Business.

There is a very high demand for SLIIT graduates and the conducive environment has paved the way for the growth of ICT related industries. A number of IT companies in Sri Lanka and some Indian companies are expanding their operations where there is a demand created for IT professionals.

The Indian IT company Mphasis has an arrangement to recruit 600 to 700 SLIIT Developers and plans to increase the number to reach 2,000 in coming years.
