Remanded for possessing heroin

A person from Wellampitiya area was remanded by the Homagama Magistrate's Court for possessing four grams of heroin at Pannipitiya Vidyala Junction recently. The heroin which is under custody is worth Rs 50,000 according to police sources.

The arrest was made on information received from a Civil Defence Committee. Police found that the suspect and a group of his friends were carrying out the business for about six months.

Under the supervision of the S P for Nugegoda police division, Deshabandu Tennekoon and the OIC Kottawa police U W Thilaksiri are conducting further investigations.
