Transfer of missing Indian fisherman’s relatives:
Immigration laws not violated
The Sri Lanka Navy said yesterday that Indian or
Sri Lankan governments have not violated immigration laws during the
transfer of the relatives of a missing Indian fisherman on April 9,
whose remains were found in the Delft Island.
Charge of fabricating evidence against judge - suspect warned
Kesbewa Magistrate Chamath Madanayake warned a
building contractor, a suspect in the kidnapping and criminal
intimidation of a grand niece of a senior judge and for conspiracy
to fabricate evidence against the judge.

Arrested for assault at Shramadana
A man and his son were taken into custody by the
Medawachchiya Police for causing injury to a person by attacking him
with a katty. The incident occurred during a shramadana campaign at
the Welewa temple on April 5. The victim had been admitted to the
Anuradhapura Teaching hospital with cut injuries to his head.

Remanded for possessing heroin
A person from Wellampitiya area was remanded by
the Homagama Magistrate's Court for possessing four grams of heroin
at Pannipitiya Vidyala Junction recently. The heroin which is under
custody is worth Rs 50,000 according to police sources.
