CFC stalls open till night

"All Ceylon Fisheries Corporation (CFC) fish stalls will be kept open till night on April 13 to provide the public with fish at concessionary prices for the New Year", said Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne. Accordingly, 87 CFC fish stalls will be open till late night on April 13.

The Minster noted that the problems at the Peliyagoda fish market complex relating to the harassments of fish vendors by extortionists has been solved with the intervention of President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. "All the extortionists involved have been taken into custody," he added.

According to CFC sources, the top consumption fish prices have been reduced by 35 to 40 percent.
