Mangala must apologise to Hindu community - Kurukkal
The International Hindu Religious Federation has condemned the
statement made by Mangala Samaraweera MP referring to “Indian” gods in
remarks made in connection with the Lankan cricket team.
A statement issued by Hindu Religious Affairs Coordinator to the
President Ramachandra Kurkkal Babusharma, who is also the Secretary of
the IHRF observed that recently Mangala Samaraweera MP told the media
that Indian gods did not heed President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s prayer on
behalf of the Sri Lankan cricket team and he (Samaraweera) questioned if
praying to Indian gods can get everything done.
Regarding this statement the entire Hindu community are disappointed.
“God belongs to the entire world, Buddhist followers believe Lord
Buddha does not belong only to Sri Lanka but the entire world. In the
same way Hindu followers believe God Vishnu belongs not only to India
but the entire world.
“Christian followers believe Lord Jesus Christ does not belong to the
Vatican but the entire world.
“But Mangala stated ‘Indian’ gods. By that he has disgraced Hindu
people and the Hindu religion. He must apologize to the entire Hindu
community.”
