High Commissioner of Indonesia Djafar Husein visited the Hambantota
District on Arpil 3 and 4.
The High Commissioner started his visit by visiting Navajeewana, a
community based rehabilitation organization at Tangalle and later he was
received by the Malay communities in Hambantota and the Malay colony in
Ambalantota who organized get-togethers to share Malay tradition,
history and culture. It was a rare opportunity for Malays in the
Hambantota District.
The Indonesian High Commissioner and his First Secretary Albert Abdi
visited the Hambantota District Chamber of Commerce (HDCC). Discussions
were very cordial and fruitful and both parties agreed to work together
to build good relationships with local businesses and to investigate
joint projects in the fields of industry, agriculture and tourism.
During the visit the High Commissioner took the opportunity to
exchange views and obtain background knowledge and information on HDCC,
its activities and the development projects taking place in the
Hambantota District. They visited the port and also had a meeting with
the District Secretary RMDB Meegasmulla.
