HR building transition capabilities - Prof Sinha
Charumini DE SILVA
The need for developing Human Resource (HR) professionals to meet
challenges generated by the economic resurgence is now acutely felt than
before. Human Resource Management (HRM) is the most difficult, but the
most important facet of any country or a company.
Institute of Personnel Management (IPM) CEO Pradeep Yahampath said
HRM is the most difficult task if it is not addressed properly as each
person is different from another in the way of thinking and acting.

HR is the uniquely valued asset of any organization. Having a skilled
HR team is a great advantage to any company, which would help immensely
to have a positive impact on the entire organization. The best HR
practices would lead the country to a sustainable development.
Yahampath said continuous training, skills development and leadership
are essential to meet the challenges. It is important to develop and
nurture HR professionals as the country is heading towards sustainable
development.
Sri Lankan HR professionals have a good demand locally and
internationally.
Speaking at the CEO Forum under the theme of Organizational Success
through HR held yesterday Birla Institute of Management and Technology
HR Head, Prof Kishore Kumar Sinha said learning daily from everyone and
everywhere indicates the flexibility of the mind.
“Personal transform innovation should be done on a continuous basis.
Preparing our mindset to meet the number of threats and challenges is
important to be competitive in the global arena,” he said.
He said cost competitiveness, quality, speed, consistent delivery,
continuous learning and innovation, corporate social behaviour and
people are crucial factors that needs to be addressed in the global
arena.
“There were myths that the HR transition is gloomy since HR was
outsourcing, automation and IT, line managers and industrial relations.
However, it is bright because HR transition is building organizational
capabilities, competence and commitment in people,” Sinha said.
“Regular research helps companies to be more conscious about the
global changes where the HR team can assemble all the learning for
better solutions.
“HR is a dynamic field and integrating HR practices vertically within
the business and horizontally with each other is essential,” he said.
