Swearing in for Local Government bodies

Four hundred and two newly elected UPFA members for LG bodies in North Western Province were sworn in before Chief Minister Athula Wijesinghe yesterday.

The ceremony was held at the Wayamba Provincial Council auditorium. Out of the 402 members, 210 were for the Puttalam District.

Meanwhile Candidates of the Tamil People’s Liberation party appointed to the UPFA, who won the local council elections in the Eastern Province were sworn in before Eastern Province Chief Minister S Chandrakanthan at their party headquarters in Batticaloa Wednesday.

Among them were party candidates elected to the Navindanveli Alayasivembu Pradesheeya Sabhas in Ampara District and the Verugal Pradesheeya Sabha in Trincomalee district. Party Secretary S Kaileswararaja and other officials were also present.
