Kandy-Colombo private bus strike marks second day

Kandy and Colombo private bus operators continued their strike for the second day, yesterday.

This strike was sparked off following a dispute with private bus operators in Kegalle who were not happy with the picking up of passengers in the Kegalle area by the Kandy-Colombo private buses.

Yesterday the private bus stand in Kandy was deserted with only a few posters hung up demanding an early solution to this problem. The State-run buses strengthened their fleet and operated a good services but these buses were jam packed.

The inter-city luxury bus service was not affected by this strike and they operated as usual. Private buses from their routes from Matale, Dambulla and Mahiyangana which travelled through Kandy to Colombo operated as usual.
