Ministry aims fisheries boom

The Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Ministry will earn 50 percent of the national income from the fisheries industry, said Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne.

The fisheries industry is one of the most prominent industries in Sri Lanka. The country had been self sufficient from the fisheries industry for a long time, he added.

"Don't be afraid to invest on the fisheries industry. I will get the responsibility of all those investments," the Minister said.

Minister Senaratne was addressing the Shramabhimani Fisheries Award Ceremony at the BMICH Wednesday. The award ceremony was organized by the Fisheries Ministry in collaboration with the Shramabhimani National Organization to facilitate the fisheries community and various industries involved in the fisheries industry.
