Fathima Zahra Girls School, Thimbrigasaya organized an Art and
Handicraft Exhibition at its school premises recently. The opening
ceremony of the Exhibition was inaugurated by Senior Minister A H M
Fowzie and Mrs Fowzie.
The Minister commended the efforts of the young artists and admired
their paintings and craft work.
This school was established for orphans and was inaugurated on June
4, 2002. Around thirty five students and six teachers provided their
services under Principal Mrs Fareeda Mohamed. Presently there are 105
students and nine teachers at this school. Classes are held from grade 1
to Advanced Level. The School is managed by All Ceylon Muslim Women’s
Association (ACMWA).
Their untiring efforts resulted in the school getting a three storied
building which was declared opened on March 12, 2009. Today this school
maintains high standards in all its academic, vocational and religious
education staying in par with some of the other leading institutions in
the Western Province. The school conducts many vocational subjects such
as tailoring and embroidery, computer, art and handicraft, fabric
painting, flower making, cross stitch and cookery.
