DSS wins one-dayer

D S Senanayake College beat Mahanama College by two wickets in the 5th annual one day encounter against Mahanama College at SSC last Sunday.

A match bag of six wickets by DSS Heshan Perera and later Saveen Cyril's half century ensured their victory over Mahanama College.

On the part of Mahanamians two half centuries were recorded by Dilshan Rusiru (71) and Chathura Wanniarachchi (54) but lack of effective contribution from the rest of the batsmen limited them to 191 all out which saw DSS win by two wickets.

DS captain Thusith Silva having won the toss opted to field first. Despite of early collapse of two wickets for 12 runs including that of Mahanamian Captain Hashan Perera, Dilshan Rusiru and Chatura Wanniarachchi went on to build a good partnership of 107 runs for the fourth wicket.

In reply DS batsman seemed confident of going for a kill with Duleeka Brahmanage and Lasith Abeyratne collecting 24 and 33 to build the innings. A half century by Saveen Cyril (53), and an unbeaten 25 from Akila

Weerasinghe comprehensively secured their victory in the 44th over.

Mahanama College 191 all out in 48.5 overs. (Dilshan Rusiru 71, Chathura Wanniarachchi 54, Heshan Perera 6 for 25)

DS Senanayake College 192 for 8 in 44.3 overs. (Duleeka Brahmanage 24, Lasith Abeyratne 33, Saveen Cyril 53, Akila Weerasinghe 25 no, Dayan Perera 2 for 35, Chathura Wanniarachchi 2 for 39).
