‘Join hands as one nation’

Scientific Affairs Senior Minister Prof Tissa Vitarana addressing a Lanka Sama Samaja Party (LSSP) press conference held yesterday said that the time is right for all ethnicities to join hands as one nation with one identity and culture. He observed that the government should expedite talks between the TNA to arrive at a fair solution regarding the problem of the Tamil Community in the country.

He observed that the TNA, which mainly campaigned over the idea that a firm political solution should be reached to the country’s national problem could win 12 Local Government Bodies in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

He said that the LSSP had requested from the government to re-establish the Gam Sabha system which will facilitate for the smooth functioning of smaller administrative units.
