ISMM holds AGM, technical sessions
The Institute of Supply and Materials Management held its annual
general meeting along with the technical sessions on March 26 at the
Auditorium of the Organization of Professional Association (OPA).
At the AGM the new President Danesha Perera was inducted and also the
new Management Council members were elected. Danesha Perera has
associated with ISMM for the past 22 years and held many positions
including the Chairman of Professional Development and Training
Committee.
He is a Fellow of the Institute and Life member of the Organisation
of Professional Association (OPA). Also currently he serves in the OPA
Executive Committee and in the Forum as the representative member of the
ISMM.
At the technical sessions Moratuwa University Prof Ajith De Alwis
delivered a very informative lecture on "Green purchasing for a better
tomorrow". He elaborated on the importance of green purchasing for a
better tomorrow.
Himani Samarakoon, from the Institute of Post Harvest Technology
delivered a timely lecture on "Food crisis - Post harvest packaging to
reduce and add value in supply chain". She highlighted on the importance
of using the proper packaging to reduce waste as there is over 30
percent waste due to improper packaging.
