Navy’s services vital for Nation’s forward march
Today we are passing a significant period of
time, which demands more than ever before, the most dedicated and
committed services from the Sri Lanka Navy to reap the dividends of
the dawned peace for the nation’s forward march, said Sri Lanka Navy
Commander Vice Admiral Somathillake Dissanayake, addressing the
officers being commissioned at the colourful commissioning and
passing out parade held at the Main Parade Ground of the Naval and
Maritime Academy (NMA) in Trincomalee on March 26, 2011.

Gem mine in Maeliya reserve:
Three nabbed
Three persons were arrested by the Nuwara Eliya
District Crime Detection Unit on suspicion that they were
maintaining several large scale gem mines in about 500 acres in the
Maeliya reserve of the Upper Kotmale area.
