Visakian gets best O/L results

According to the results released by the Examination Department Withana Hewage Madhuri Yashoda Withanage, a student of Visaka Vidyalaya, Colombo has received the island's best results from the GCE Ordinary Level Examination held in December last year.

Mohammadu Rizan Mohamed Athif of Maliyadeva Boys School in Kurunegala has obtained the second best results. He is a Muslim student who sat for the examination in the Sinhala medium. The third best results were obtained by Withanage Dona Thathsarani Amaya Mahathanthila of Eheliyagoda Central College.

Two students respectively from Ananda College, Colombo and Southlands Vidyalaya, Galle have shared the fourth island best results. The majority of the Islandwide toppers of last year's O-L Examination is from village schools in rural areas, said Education Minister Bandula Gunawardena at a press briefing held at the Ministry Premises to officially issue the top results of last year's O-L Examination. There is a big demand for popular schools in Colombo both from parents and students.
