A delegation from the National People's Congress (NPC) of China met
Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa in Parliament yesterday.
The delegation headed by Vice Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee
Hua Jianmin made the courtesy call on the invitation of the Speaker.
The delegation which arrived in Sri Lanka on Monday will leave on
Thursday.
The delegation viewed the proceedings of the House from the Speaker's
Gallery. The Chinese delegation made courtesy calls on President Mahinda
Rajapaksa and Prime Minister D M Jayaratne.
The delegation is scheduled to visit the National Museum and the
Independence Square today.
The Chinese delegation comprises 21 delegates including Vice Chairman
of the Financial and Economic Affairs Committee Xu Gaungchun, Deputy
Secretary General of the Standing Committee of the NPC Wang Qingxi, Vice
Chairman of the Standing Committee of Shangdong Provincial People's
Congress liu Yugong and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of
Guangxi Zhuang Antonymous Regional People's Congress Wu Heng.
