Market closes on a higher note

The Colombo bourse closed its trading floors on a higher note yesterday.

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed at 7,220.26 points moving up by 63.93 points, while Milanka Price Index (MPI) closed at 6,696.79 points gaining by 62.01 points. The turnover for the day was over Rs 3.6 billion.

There were 11 transactions worth over Rs 20 million from Ceylinco Insurance, Asia Wealth Management Company Research Analyst Nirmala Samarawickrama told Daily News Business.

The top traded stocks were Ceylinco Insurance, Central Finance, Pelawatte Sugar, LB Finance and Distilleries company.

A mix of transactions such as high networth and retail were noticed in yesterday's trading floors, he said.

Top gainers were LB Finance, Central Finance, Vallibel Finance, Guardian Capital Partners and Ceylinco Insurance Company.
