Health ministry has launched a program to recognize hidden talents of
health sector employees.
One chief organizer, training coordinator and triage team leader of
Accident and Orthopedic Service of National Hospital Sri Lanka Pushpa
Ramyani Zoysa explained the program concept.

“This program has already recognized a large number of our sisters
and brothers who work in the health sector whose talents are inborn and
hidden.
We should encourage them to reveal their talents before an audience.
That’s what we are going to do now.”
As the first step of the program, the Ministry has invited the
applications from the 400,000 employees in the health sector.
Over 5000 applications have been received. “This is the brainchild of
Health Minister Maithreepala Sirisena.
He thinks this concept would work well since our working force
includes many talented people.
They cannot show their talents because of hectic lifestyle.
Applications have been sent under categories like Singing, dancing,
announcing, playing instruments, drama, street drama and poetry.
We have already selected 750 applications.” Zoysa said.
“As a short term method we will organize a concert at Maharagama
Youth Centre on April 6 at 6 pm. Rehearsals are being done these days.
Dancing, Drama and singing will take the whole stage of the day.

Our long term plan is to create a dancing team, music band and a
drama team for the health sector.
People would think why such groups are needed for the health sector.
You know there are many patients who have been in the hospital for
many years.
They have had enough of their stay at the hospital. We can give them
mental therapies through our talented people. On the other hand our
people are weary with the working conditions.
They can cushion their minds with aesthetic feelings to get rid of
the stress they have.
We hope we can make an attitudinal change in our sector and this will
bring more developments into our professions.” She explained. An
exhibition of different guise would take place at the hospital complex
on April 5 and 6 to educate people on how to eradicate diseases. Street
dramas and exhibitions of different nature will be held.
“We hope more crowd will make a beeline to national hospital complex
to enjoy this novel experience. Donations are also welcome since this is
a long-term program.” Zoysa concluded.
