President attends to cancer patient’s request
President Mahinda Rajapaksa drew his attention to a report in a
Sunday newspaper with regard to appeals made by a mother in the Kalutara
district suffering from cancer, for support to receive treatment.
Ms Kusumalatha, a mother of three young children, is suffering from
abdominal cancer and is being treated at the Maharagama Cancer Hospital.
According to the news report, the hospital has informed her that an
operation would cost her around Rs 400,000 which she is unable to
afford.
Acknowledging Ms Kusumalatha does not have the means for the
operation, the President inquired after her health from hospital
authorities and learning that the operation costs Rs 600,000, advised
them to carry it out free of charge. |
