Apparel sector grows

Major players take closed factories :

The apparel industry will continue its growth momentum and is expected to end the year by recording a growth of four percent. The industry is really booming except for a few hiccups, Sri Lanka Garment Buying Offices Association President J D R Sylvester said.

Tea production picking up

Sri Lanka has recorded a tea crop of 21.6 million kilograms (Mkgs) in February. This is around 1.8 mkgs lower than the corresponding period last year. A crop of 42.6 mkgs has been harvested during January and February, which is 9.3 mkgs lower than the crop attained during the corresponding period of 2010 Lanka Commodity Brokers Limited said.

International award for First Guardian

First Guardian Equities won the CQE Century International Quality ERA Award in the Gold Category at a ceremony in Geneva recently. These awards are organized by Business Initiative Directions (BID) and were held at the International Quality Convention in Geneva at the spectacular Intercontinental Geneve Ballroom, across from the United Nations European Headquarters.
