More and more UNP supporters join with the Government everyday and
100 of them joined from Kandy during a recent village level meeting. The
Opposition says it will shake the Government but the Government cannot
be destabilized. It has five more years to go and it has over 160 seats
in Parliament, Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said.
Minister Aluthgamage addressing the weekly SLFP press briefing held
at the Mahaweli Centre, Colombo yesterday said that there is no photo of
the opposition leader in posters of Opposition candidates but the photo
of President Mahinda Rajapaksa is printed in the posters of all UPFA LG
Polls candidates. It shows the future of the UNP. Farmers receive
fertilizer subsidy of Rs 20,000, he said.
Minister Aluthgamage said every time the Opposition Leader earned
votes for the Government and he is doing the same for the LG Polls 2011.
A H M Azwar MP said the Opposition Leader set a world record by
losing 17 elections in a row. He accused his own country during the
commonwealth parliamentary association conference held in Sri Lanka
recently. He criticized the country’s judicial system but it was the UNP
which stoned one of former CJs Nevil Samarakoon. The UNP destroyed trade
unionists. Villagers will never vote for the UNP and never bring the
opposition into power, he added. |
