Jeevan steers Tamil Union to victory

Skipper Jeevan Mendis came out with a fine all round performance to lead Tamil Union to a sensational six wicket outright victory over the defending champions Chilaw Marians CC in their SLC Premier League Tier ‘A’ cricket tournament match which concluded at Katunayake yesterday.

Chilaw Marians CC: 204 and 278 (A. Athulathmudali 43, M. Siriwardena 44, S. Eranga 50, M. Pushpakumara 74, A. Janoda 21, S. Lakmal 2 for 49, J. Mendis 5 for 90, C. Vidanapathirana 2 for 11).

Tamil Union: 345 and 140 for 4 (K. Gunawardena 52 n.o, T. Lancefield 30, J. Mendis 48 n.o, M. Siriwardena 3 for 38).

Ragama stun CCC

Opening bowler Madura Lakmal produced a hostile spell of bowling (4 for 58) to spearhead Ragama CC to a stunning innings and 33 run outright victory over the high riding CCC team in their SLC Premier League Tier ‘A’ cricket tournament match which concluded at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Tharanga excels

Stylish opening batsman Tharanga Paranavithana hammered the first double century for the season as the SSC cruised to an easy first innings victory over the Colts CC in their SLC Premier League Tier ‘A’ cricket tournament match which concluded at Havelock Park yesterday.

Baduraliya fall short

Baduraliya CC fell short by 25 runs from an outright victory as they had to be content with first innings points over Saracens CC in their SLC Premier League Tier ‘A’ cricket tournament match which concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.
