Major honours for Kegalle Marians

St Mary’s College, Kegalle scored a first innings win over St Anne’s College, Kurunegala in their schools Under-19 cricket tournament match concluded at Kurunegala yesterday.

Highlight of the match was a fine double of 60 and 43 a match-bag of 7 for 90 by St Mary’s College skipper Malinda Gunaratne. Malinda Gunaratne who is an off-spinner has now captured 81 wickets for the season and also scored 650 runs during the season. St Anne’s College who made 173 in the second innings set their opponents a victory target of 150 in 9 overs and they made 73 for 3.

St Anne’s College: 177 and 173 all out in 59.3 overs (M Udagedara 46, M Perera 40, C Perera 27, M Afsal 25, Malinda Gunaratne 4 for 30, Christopher Denipitiya 3 for 37, Prince Jayakumara 3 for 78).

St Mary’s College: (97 for 4 overnight continued) 193 all out in 54 overs (Malinda Gunaratne 60, Eraj Jayamanne 21, Chathuranga Ranaweera 24 n.o, Sahan Opatha 13, M Afsal 3 for 30) and 73 for 3 in 9 overs (Malinda Gunaratne 43, Kevin Galdeniya 13, C Denipitiya 12, C Perera 2 for 31).
