Trinity College, Kandy, held the upper hand at the end of the first day's play in their schools under 19 cricket tournament match against St Servatius College, Matara which began at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy yesterday.

St Servatius winning the toss, elected to bat first and were bowled out for 152 before the tea break. Nimanda Madushanka batted well to score 66 with the aid of 10 fours and single handedly stemmed a possible collapse spearheaded by spinners Janishka Premasinghe 4 for 50 and Kavinda Jayasuriya (3 for 28). Gihan Nimsara scored 31.
