Trinity hold upper hand

Trinity College, Kandy, held the upper hand at the end of the first
day's play in their schools under 19 cricket tournament match against St
Servatius College, Matara which began at the Asgiriya Stadium, Kandy
yesterday.
St Servatius winning the toss, elected to bat first and were bowled
out for 152 before the tea break. Nimanda Madushanka batted well to
score 66 with the aid of 10 fours and single handedly stemmed a possible
collapse spearheaded by spinners Janishka Premasinghe 4 for 50 and
Kavinda Jayasuriya (3 for 28). Gihan Nimsara scored 31.
Trinity College having scored eight outright wins this season and
having failed to continue their winning streak in their last four
outings put a lot of aggression in their batting to total 224 all out in
the final over of the day through Niroshan Dickwella (32), Kheliya
Athugoda (40), and Kavinda Jayasuriya (34) who made contributions but
there was no big individual score by any of the Trinitians.
Lahiru Kokila (4 for 70) bowled best for St Servatius College.
St Servatius College152 all out in 52.3 overs (Gihan Nimsara 31,
Nimanda Madusanka 66, D J Ruchira 19, Janishka Premasinghe 4 for 50,
Kavinda Jayasuriya 3 for 28).
Trinity College 224 all out in 53.4 overs (Niroshan Dickwella 32,
Kheliya Athugoda 40, Kavinda Jayasuriya 34, Ron Chandragupta 27, Akila
Jayasundera 25, Tissa Bandara 25, Alwin Fernando 16, Lahiru Kokila 4 for
70, Sanjika Ridma 2 for 45, Inzam Mohamed 2 for 57).
