Asia-Oceania Junior Davis Cup:

Sri Lanka off to a flying start

Sri Lanka is hosting the Asia-Oceania Junior Davis Cup - Junior FED Cup and the World Junior Team competition pre-qualifying matches from February 21 to 26.

The tournament kicked off with the participation of 23 countries.

Sri Lanka started well by winning four matches. They beat Saudi Arabia, Turkmenistan, Philippines and Jordan but lost to Singapore in the World Junior Davis doubles.

In the world junior matches UAE beat Mongolia, Jordan beat Saudi Arabia, Yeman overcame Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan got the better of Philippines and in the girls Kazakhstan beat Turkmenistan.

Sri Lanka beat Saudi Arabia in the Junior Davis Cup while Jordan beat Turkmenistan and Bhutan overcame Yeman in the boys under 16.

In girls under 16 matches Sri Lanka beat Turkmenistan and Hong Kong overcame Singapore and Bangladesh.

In girls Junior Davis Cup Syria overcame Singapore and Philippines beat Bhutan.

In the same category Sri Lanka beat Jordan while Turkmenistan got the better of Saudi Arabia.

Singapore beat Sri Lanka in the girls event and Hong Kong beat Turkmenistan. In another encounter UAE overcame Mongolia in the world junior match.
