Police no match for rogue tourist guide

A suspect who had defrauded a German tourist couple visiting Sigiriya for Rs 4,000 by posing as a tourist guide was arrested by the Sigiriya police Monday. Police said investigations revealed that the suspect had promised to offer an entrance ticket valued at Rs 2,800 each for a discounted price of Rs 2,000 and agreed to take the couple to the rock summit.

However, without doing so as agreed the suspect had taken the couple on a devious route along the rock and left them stranded and vanished.
