Nearly 51 undocumented immigrants drown in Mozambique

Mozambique: At least 51 undocumented Somali immigrants drowned after their boat sank off the coast of northern Mozambique ten days ago, local police have said.

"There were 51 deaths, 50 Somalis and the captain of the boat," AFP quoted police spokesman Pedro Cossa as saying on Wednesday. He added that the Tanzanian-owned boat was coming from Somalia carrying 129 undocumented immigrants, including 89 Somalis and 40 Ethiopians.

The boat sank off Suhavo Island in Cabo Delgado on February 5, Cossa further explained. Thursday, Press TV
