Withdrawal from Foreign Job Bureau account:
Three State bank employees’ services suspended
Suraj Bandara and Mahinda Aluthgedara
The service of three State bank employees was suspended following the
alleged illegal withdrawal of money from an account of the Foreign
Service Employment Bureau (FSEB) yesterday.
They had withdrawn over Rs 9.4 million from the bank deposited by
Korean job seekers from their account with the FSEB.
Though the money was to be credited to the Bureau’s account, they
have fiddled with the system and credited the money to their personal
accounts.
The fraud had been carried out in a bank at the FSEB premises. The
Bank had issued receipts for the depositors confirming the payments to
the Bank under the Bureau’s account number.
The Bank and the Bureau together with the police are investigating. |
