When manufacturing IT products in Sri Lanka, economy of scale is the
main obstacle faced by the industry.
Sri Lanka is unable to bargain prices of imported components which
are used in manufacturing IT related products as the country does not go
for mass production when compared to other countries.
“There is an enormous potential in the hardware market and the mobile
market in Sri Lanka. IT related products markets particularly mobile and
hardware market need to capture neighbouring countries like Bangladesh,
India and Pakistan to export its products utilizing the free trade
agreements Sri Lanka signed with these countries,” Wijewickrama said.
The company has recently introduced a navigation system for the first
time in Sri Lanka which will be helpful for travellers to go to any
place in the country without getting lost.
This area has a great potential in Sri Lanka and has become a huge
success since it was introduced to the local market.
There is a big market for e-education and digital entrainment in the
country.
For this reason the company will look at introducing tracking systems
for vehicles, digital entrainment system, GPS system for maritime
purposes and e- education system which would help students to follow
distance learning without any hindrance. |
