Father says daughter threw acid at him

A woman allegedly threw acid on her father who came to his plot of land occupied by her to pluck coconuts.

The man Dambadeniya Arachchilage Nissanka, 58, a resident of Kandangoda Thembilikade in the Kuruwita Police area is receiving treatment at the Ratnapura General Hospital.

The victim testifying before the Hospital police said he is separated from his wife and has three children. Nissanka said on the day of the incident, he wanted to prepare his noon meal.

“As there was no coconut to prepare a pol sambol I went to the area where my daughter was living and attempted to climb a coconut tree. My daughter came towards him with a basin.

She took a bottle of acid and poured on me. Her children shouted not to do so,” he said. Nissanka said he felt a burning sensation and ran to the tap and washed his body and face.

He ran towards a boutique and with the help of some people went to the hospital. One of his eyes is badly burnt.

The hospital police referred the matter to the Kuruwita police for further investigation.
