Sanka Ramesh a superb all-rounder

Moratu Vidyalaya all-rounder Sanka Ramesh so far-recorded the best
all round performances for the current cricket season among the schools
in the island with 853 runs and 77 wickets in twelve matches.
He commenced his cricket career at De Soysa Maha Vidyalaya Angulana,
Moratuwa and his first coach being Sabu Weerasuriya. When he joined
Moratu Vidyalaya no sooner his talents were picked up by his present
coach Prasanna Dissanayake who himself is a former Vidyalian captain.
Sanka Ramesh who turns out for Singhalese Sports Club in the under 23
Premir Tournament excelled with the ball. In his first year itself he
claimed 29 Wickets with best figures of 6 for 47 and 4 for 40 a match
bag of 10 for 87 against Colombo Cricket Club.
He bats right handed and bowls left arm leg spin, represented his
Alma-Mater in twelve matches this season. He had two hundreds with the
highest score of an unbeaten 129 runs against St Sylvester’s, Kandy.
Then he notched up his second hundred against formidable St Sebastians
and a match bag of ten wickets.
He had four fifties and missed two well deserved hundreds, 94, versus
Asoka Vidyalaya and ran short of partners against St Benedicts College
Kotahena with an unbeaten 84 runs.
The other two fifties were against St Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya
58 and 58 against Holy Cross College, Kalutara.
In addition he had six five wicket hauls against De Mazonod College,
Kalutara Vidyalaya, Holy Cross College, St Benedict’s College, St
Sylvester’s College, St Mary’s College, Kegalle and a ten wicket haul
against Ananda Sastralaya, Kotte. |
