Pilfered fertilizer load seized

Welikanda Police yesterday arrested an errant trader who attempted to sell subsidized fertilizer given to the farmers by the Government under the Mahinda Chintana.

The Police also seized 270 bags of fertilizer at Thrikonamadu roadblock at Welikanda while they were transporting it in a lorry. A bag of fertilizer was 50 kg in weight. Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Daily News that the fertilizer was packed in some other bags when they were being transported.
