Janasevana begins tomorrow
Construction of the Janasevana housing scheme will be inaugurated
tomorrow at Kirulapone under the patronage of President Mahinda
Rajapaksa.
The Government plans to build one million houses during next five
years under this program.
About 60,000 houses will be built during this year, said
Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities
Minister Wimal Weerawansa. The Government's aim is to provide each
family with a house under the Mahinda Chintana policy. The program will
be implemented to provide houses for the poorest of the poor.
The project will also provide houses for public servants. It provides
a solution for the housing problem in Public servants. About 20,000
public servants will benefit.
Flats, rural and semi urban houses, eco friendly houses, Viru Sevana
housing program, Upahara Niwasa, millennium houses and others will be
constructed under Janasevana.
More than 500 houses will be allocated to Security Forces, 500 houses
will be built based on Youth society, 8,000 will be given to estate
workers, fishermen, Samurdhi beneficiaries and foreign employees.
The Mihidupura housing scheme at Kirulapone will be started to
celebrate 2600th Sri Sambuddathwa Jayanthiya. |
