Like mother, like son

A mother and son found guilty of cheating Rs 1 million from several unsuspecting persons promising them jobs abroad, agreed to repay the money to the aggrieved victims when the case came up for hearing before Kandy Magistrate S U B Karaliyadde.

Pahanthiyage Nimalawathie, 65, and her son Achintha Ravindranath, 29, were found guilty of cheating several persons in Passara, Badulla, Gampaha, and Weliveriya for Rs 1 million promising them jobs abroad appearing in various assumed names. The case was postponed for March 11.
